Aussie Wins Elite Gold in Thailand

Story by uncle_fu

Grapplers from throughout Asia, America and Brazil gathered together in Bangkok on the weekend of the 19th-20th Sept to compete in the prestigious FBT Thailand BJJ/Grappling Open. Australia was represented by one sole competitor - http://www.sinisterstore.com.au’s BJJ representative - Ross Dallow

Ross competed in both the Open Brown Belt Division as well as the Elite <90kg No Gi section of the competition. Dallows performance can only be described as dominating in both divisions. He was only defeated once (on points) against Mundial and Pan-Am Champion Makoto Ogasawara in a match which was regarded as the ‘Most Technical’ of the entire tournament. Ross also caused the greatest upset of the event by defeating the very experienced and highly recognised Ray Elbe of Tiger Muay Thai Phuket in a convincing combination of power, skill and athleticism in both Gi and No Gi Divisions.

Ross’s official results were Bronze in Brown Belt Open (a controversial decision as the 2nd place getter was submitted by Makoto, Ross lost on points & there was no match for runner up placings), and Gold in the No Gi <90kgs Elite Division. Congratulations must be given to Ross for representing himself, his coaches, Country and http://www.sinisterstore.com.au in such a sportsman like and successful manner. Ross capped his stellar week off with a spectacular head kick KO in the opening of the 3rd round of his fight with Gareth Ealey
