Brayden Summers Wins on Martial Combat Singapore

Brayden Summers an Australian MMA fighter from Team Nemesis in Melbourne, currently fighting out of Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket, Thailand. Brayden fought on the Martial Combat MMA show in Singapore yesterday against Bian Xiao Long from China. Brayden won the fight in the second round via standing guillotine. 

Proud Warrior 2 reschedule to 13 November

 

Proud Warrior Productions is back with another exciting instalment of Martial Arts action at Sharks Leagues Club, Cronulla. On November 13 the warriors will once again be ready to rumble, with some of Australia’s finest Mixed Martial Arts and Kickboxing fighters set to meet in the ring for PWP2.

This highly anticipated event will be filmed in high definition and broadcast on free-to-air sports channel 1HD.

This huge card is headlined by Heavyweight legend ‘Big’ Jim York taking on Canadian Mike ‘the Librarian’ Martelle. Big Jim, who made a name for himself fighting in Sengoku, Japan, and has recently been making waves on Australian shores winning his last two fights via early submissions. Canadian Mike Martelle is a true Mixed Martial Artist and a veteran of the sport, and is coming off 5 solid wins in 2010.

Other local favorites Bernardo ‘Treko’ Magalhaes, Manuel ‘Chalate’ Rodriguez and Renato Vieira are set to take on team Hawaii from Egan Inoue’s legendary gym. CFC Lightweight Champion Bernardo Treko and Manny Rodriguez (coming off his recent win over Shane Nix) will be very keen to put on a show in front of their home crowd.

Some of Australia’s best kickboxers will meet in some short, fast K-1 style bouts. Canberra’s Arlyn Owens will meet rising superstar Luis Regis, who has been making a name for himself lately with his superb technique and composure. Double Dragon’s own Rowan Sangster is matched to take on fellow Sydneysider Nick Rivera.

Other exciting match-ups are in the works, including the return of Heath McManus to the arena.

Aftershock 10.2 MMA Amateur Tournament 9th October

 

Our first Aftershock was a huge success with over 300 people turning up to watch some great amateur fights at our Fightcross MMA centre. we are hold the next installment on the 9th October  and are  looking for amateur fighters in the following weight divisions

1.             Bantamweight - under 62kg (137lbs)

2.             Featherweight - 62kg to 65kg (143lbs)

3.             Lightweight - over 65kg to 70kg (154lbs)

4.             Welterweight - over 70kg to 77kg (170lbs)

5.             Middleweight - over 77kg to 84kg (185lbs)

6.             Light Heavyweight- over 84kg to 93kg (205lbs)

7.             Heavyweight - over 93kg to 105kg (231lbs)

8.             Womens division will depend on the number of nominations received

We are planing for 20 matched fights this time 10 in the morning and 10 in the afternoon.

Girls of MMA – Australasian Knockout MMA Champion Fiona Muxlow

 

GirlsofMMA.net goes downunder to NorthEastern part of Australia to a town called Townsville in Queenland to interview Fiona Muxlow.

Fiona is one of the most decorated Female MMA fighter based in Australasia. She has won the Princesses of Pain 8 woman tournament in New Zealand to become a champion in her division as well as the current Australasian Knockout MMA Champion.She also competes in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and also won her division in the Australasian ADCC Trials.

Honour Cage Fight - Rotorua Final Card

Honour Cage Fighting will hold its first show in Rotorua on 28th August. This will be the first time a cage event has been held in Rotorua and this will be held at the Rotorua Girls High School, it is being put on by Roney Da Silva. The main event will see Ali Clarke from McGyver/Gracie take on Rob Joyce from Fightshop in Palmerston North in a light heavyweight bout. Rob has 1 win via rear naked choke over John Shu on Triple Impact while Ali Clarke is coming off a loss to John Parai on Supremacy 5 and before that a win over Cam Steer on Supremacy 3. Fight for Life 2010 Seminar

One of the founding instructors of Idokan Australia and Bushido Instructors Association is "fighting for her life" against cancer.  Sensei Wendy Carroll is a well respected instructor in the martial art community.

Those that meet Wendy are always impressed with her enthusiasm for life.  Two years ago Wendy was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer with a 6cm tumour.  Wendy was told by her doctors that she should "put her affairs in order".  Refusing to be beaten Wendy had a mastectomy and underwent aggressive chemotherapy and radiotherapy.  To her doctors surprise she survived the ordeal.  Not only that but she reopened  her dojo in Warrandyte and went to an intensive two week Jujutsu seminar in Kyoto, Japan where she was examined for her 4th Dan Jujutsu by the Honbu members of the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai.
