1st Annual Grappling Teams Event & Free Roll 27th February in Christchurch
1 month, 1 week ago
The 1st Annual Grappling Teams Event & Free Roll will be held on the 27th Feb in Christchurch. This event will have rules similar to the Old School wrestling ‘Survivor Series’ event. Only way to win the fights is via Submission. If you win you stay out and fight the next opponent on the opposite team, If you lose you’re eliminated. The fight goes fulltime, Both eliminated. This should bring some interesting dynamics for a few reasons. -It encourages risk to attempt submissions instead of just position riding. - There will be situations were fighters will be ‘fighting for a draw’ - The tournament will be knock out format BUT there will be a plate final meaning people will get at least 2 matches in most cases At the end of the tournament we will also have a ‘free roll’ for 2hours
For more information or to enter the event contact Jason Koster 0273374044 or email kosterzoo at hotmail.com.

Well, what a massive year its been for all of us this year. Sinisterstore.com.au has had great success lifting the profile of MMA as well as purer forms of the submission arts. Our sponsored fighters, Ian Bone, Anthony Perosh and Ross Dallow have all achieved both national recognition and international backing thanks to the assistance of Hitman Fightgear and Pimpit Empire. The year culminated in huge victories for all 3 of our fighters at Rize 3, an event that is fast emerging as ‘The Card’ Australasia’s premiere fighters want to compete on.
Expect Big Things in 2010 for sinisterstore.com.au with some big announcements and some new sponsored fighter to cause a stir on the MMA scene both here and abroad. We would also like to take the opportunity to thank everyone that has worked with us this year to help us get where we are today. thanks to- ian Bone and his Family, Ross Dallow, Matt Cooper and his team at Rize, Juggs, Anthony Perosh - You are a true proefessional, Hamish Robertson and Infinitemma.com, Elvis Sinosic and Events BJJ, larry and Ally Papadopoulos, Hitman Dan and Erica Cicero at Hitman HQ, Derek Jaeger at Pimpit Empire and Elie at MMA Sports Magazine, and most importantly, a big thank you to everyone of you that sweats it out on the mats every week, taking time to help your team mate prepare for a comp or a show, and to all our friends that have supported us throughout 2009

Fellow Grappler Suffers a Serious Injury
2 months, 3 weeks ago
In the last few seconds of the last round on the Saturday 12th December, Haydn Clasby from Submission Martial Arts (NZ) suffered a serious injury to his neck. This injury was sustained in a controlled BJJ environment and was a freak accident. Haydn broke one of his vertebrae in his neck and damaged his C5, C6, C7, he is paralysed from the shoulders down at present. At the end of this week they will operate and put a plate into his neck.
At the moment the Doctors are providing worst-case scenario information to us, but due to the complexity of the injury it is going to be a wait and see. So as we all sit here with all our fingers and toes crossed, the initiative has been taken and an account has been opened in Haydn’s name at Kiwi Bank.
The aim of this account is to provide funds towards the costs of Haydn’s recovery and to help his partner Gen and family as they take extensive time off work to support Haydn during his recovery. Any contribution no matter how small would be greatly appreciated. click full story for account information
