Come and Wrestle a Shark this Saturday February 6th from 10am to 12pm at TP Gym! Paul Gallen, Albert Kelly, Nathan Gardner, Matthew Wright, Siosaia Vave and Taulima Tautai will be at the official Grappling headquarters located 4C/3 Captain Cooke drive Caringbah. The boys will be hanging out to see the fans come and visit one of their training facilities at TP Gym where they will work on skills (both on and off the field), which are an integral part of their game in defence and attack. As well, the boys are doing best to help bring positive awareness to Jiu Jitsu in the Shire.
The 1st Annual Grappling Teams Event & Free Roll will be held on the 27th Feb in Christchurch. This event will have rules similar to the Old School wrestling ‘Survivor Series’ event. Only way to win the fights is via Submission. If you win you stay out and fight the next opponent on the opposite team, If you lose you’re eliminated. The fight goes fulltime, Both eliminated. This should bring some interesting dynamics for a few reasons. -It encourages risk to attempt submissions instead of just position riding. - There will be situations were fighters will be ‘fighting for a draw’ - The tournament will be knock out format BUT there will be a plate final meaning people will get at least 2 matches in most cases At the end of the tournament we will also have a ‘free roll’ for 2hours

Xavier X-Man Lucas has decided to retire from the sport of MMA, he has stated that he can not compete anymore due to family and work commitments. Xavier does not feel he can get enough time to train properly to compete in MMA with the level continuing to go up. Xavier has beaten a number of top Australian MMA fighters including Matt Cain and Ian Bone he has had a lot of success on the international scene winning the Shooto Pacific Rim title and beating a number of very good Japanese Opponents including Akihiro Yamazaki, Yoshitaro Niimi and Daisuke Okumiya

Australia's premier amateur caged event is set to bring the steel caged Hexagon to Toowoomba Queeensland for the first time. The event will be held at the USQ basketball stadium and will showcase some of Qld's hottest up and coming MMA talent. Toowoomba has always represented itself well in the Aussie MMA scene and is well known for producing many a tough fighter. The Lismore Workers Club, Lismore, New South Wales will host Underground MMA for the second event in the Northern Rivers area. The first event was held at Bangalow on Oct 2nd last year. Last Octobers event generated a huge amount of interest from local fighters and spectators, so no doubt this event will be even bigger.
