Falciroli, v Kadowaki on SuperFight Australia June 11 Perth

SuperFight Australia returns again this June 11th 2010 with a huge line-up of local and International talent. Promoting since 2007 SuperFight Australia has continually strived to bring the most competive and action packed fights to all fight fans across Western Australia.
And this show is no exception as Arena Joondalup again plays host to a massive night of fights featuring Gustavo Falciroli, who is currently Australia’s Number 1 ranked Lightweight fighter and CFC champion, he will be taking on a very dangerous oppenent in Hideki Kadowaki a two time former Shooto lightweight champion with wins over Rumina Sato and highly ranked aussie Adrian Pang. This will be a tough test for Gustavo as Hideki is a very expeirenced fighter having fought some of the best submission fighters from Sengoku, Warriors Realm and Shooto.

Returning to the Shooto Ring will be Chris Brown the 5 x Olympic wrestler who defeated Renzo Gracie in the first round of Abu Dhabi. He will be facing a very dangerous young gun in Sean Spooner representing Eclipse from WA’s SouthWest in what will be a great clash of wrestling and submission skills.

Also fighting will be FFC’s Steven Kennedy who take’s on Mach1 Fighter and BJJ Brown Belt Michael Morcombe. And big swinger Cameron Murcutt drops a weightclass to face Scott Mapley in a fight that won’t go the distance.

Other fights include Dave Vegas, Chris Kemp and a strong undercard.

With the weigh-ins over and no major issues with weight, fighters are now ready to get it on at Superfight Australia tomorrow.

Looks like its gonna be a good card…fight number two will be interesting how Kyle Holt made 93 kilos is amazing the guy is HUGE made Peter Kennedy look tiny…
Looking Forward to Spooner v Brown, Spooner is a class act, and Kennedy v Morcombe as well!

LHW fight between Glen Austin (Gracie Barra) and Nicko Flessas (Ellenbrook Martial Arts) 2x5min rounds

Flessas taking this fight on very short notice

Austin was unforgiving from the start after landing solid punches which rocked Flessas and without stopping the onslaught.  Flessas not able to respond and after a doctor checkup its night over for Flessas.

Next fight catchweight at 93.5 kgs Kye Holt (Evolution) vs Peter Kennedy (FFC) 2x5min

Rd 1 Kennedy starts with a good right leg kick but Holt good with a quick succession of punches.

Clinch work ends up with Kennedy on top and does quick and convinving GNP work.  But Holt throwing up a triangle from the bottom and pulling on Kennedy’s head he cinches the triangle chock for the submission win

Middleweight Dave Johnson (The Arena) vs Steve Semrany (Lion’s Den Sydney)

Fights starts with clinch work in the neutral corner with Semrany scoop slamming Johnson twice but Johnson getting quickly up the first time and the second time throwing his legs up to get an easy armbar for the sub win

Middleweight (76 kgs): Eric Botes (Evolution) vs James Fairman (Gracie Barra)

Fights starts of with a quick takedown by Botes but Fairman quickly getting back up and working hard in the clinch.  FIghters bring it to the corner and Fairman keeping it tight in the clinch.  Botes doing a good job of fighting out of it but in the end Botes gets it to the ground.  Botes standing up continues peppering with kicks but eventually pounds the head of Fairman from above.

Fairman muscling it back to the ground ending up in side control then throws a sub but gets shrugged off and Botes punching with fury from above until the ref stops it close to the end of the round

Botes win at 4:18 of the first round with a TKO win

Catchweight fight (75 kgs): David Vergers (Mach1) vs Robert Lisita (Lion’s Den Sydney)

Round 1 starts with with Lisita landing a couple of good overhand rights and they fall to the ground with Lisita getting Vergers back but stands up and shrugs Lisita off.

Lisita is now bloodied but gets Vergers back down to the ground, postuiring up but Vergers long legs creeping his guard high on the shoulder blades.  Lisita shrugs them off and obtains full mount then getting Vergers back again with both hooks in

Vergers fights back to half guard but Lisita get side control and squeezes the side choke, submitting Vergers for the wim

Welterweight fight (70 kgs): Luke Hume (Dog Factory Townsville) vs Kris Kemps (Eclipse)

Fighters start with Kemps punching to the body and driving Hume to the corner.  Hume fighting the takedown but Kemps eventually gets Hume down

Kemps postures up and almost receives an upkick to the face.  But Hume gets up quickly only to get tripped back down to half guard.  Hume throws a leg up and Kemps recognizes it and shrugs it off only to get swept

Kemps tries to secure the rubber guard only to transition to the triangle and Hume falls pray to the submission

Middleweight fight (76 kgs): Michael Morcombe (Mach1) vs Steven Kennedy (FFC)

Round 1 and Morcombe snaps a hard leg kick to start.  Steven keeping this standing as they trade leg kicks and Kennedy not checking the ones to the leg.  Kennedy trying to get Morcombe to the ropes but Morcombe using them to bounce away from any attack.

Morcombe inching closer and attachks landing a couple good rights to Kennedy’s face.  Kennedy tries for a takedown but Morcombe shrugs it off.

Kennedy lands a quick blow that gets Morcombe to the ground.  Kennedy pounces but ends up in Morcombe’s closed guard.  Kennedy tries to posture up and break the hold to no avail and the ref stands them up.

Kennedy catches Morcombe again momentarily stopping Morcombe in his tracks and Kennedy gets the easy takedown.  Kennedy fighting hard to pass but gets trapped in half guard and the round ends in this fashion.  Morcombe is slow to get back to his corner

Round 2 and Kenned peppering with quick jabs but Morcombe trying to close in.  Morcombe lands a clean counter right and Kennedy loses his balance but regains his senses quickly and brings it to the ground.  Kennedy gets side control but almost loses it and ends up in Morcombe’s guard where the ref stands them back up.

Morcombe slips trying to deliver a high right kick and Kennedy takes advantage to keep it on the ground.  Morcombe momentarily throws his legs up but Kennedy smart in pulling up and negating it and the round ends

Final round Morcombe looking a little slow but lands a hard kick to the side of Kennedy then wings wild hooks missing the mark.  Kennedy backing up waiting to counter.  Morcombe with his hands down and Kennedy tries for a reverse spinning back kick which misses and Morcombe landing on top of Kennedy and reaching mount.  Morcombe gets the back but Kennedy quick to spin back to Morcombe’s guard and stands it up.

60 seconds to go and Kennedy continues with the jabs. but Morcombe catching the occasional right straight.  Morcombe hands down again and lands a beautiful counter right then with a spinning back fist Kennedy catches him and brings it to the ground and the bell sounds to end the fight.

Decision goes to Steven Kennedy tonight

Lightweight fight (65 kgs): Gustavo Falciroli (Mach1) vs Hideki Kadowaki (Japan)

Falciroli going foward to start the fight and both look good on the feet trading punches.  This one does not look like it’s going to the ground any time soon and Falciroli lands a left hook flush on the button and Kadowaki crumples down.  Falciroli jumps quickly and after a couple hammer fists the ref waves him off to end the fight. 

A convincing win for Gustavo which will surely move him up the ranks in the Shooto rankings

Spooner won by TKO in the 3rd round inthe opening minute of it

Also was really impressed with Robert Lisita guy was intense and put on an awesome show! They should of announce him from being from WA though, might of got a little more fan fare then raspberry
