SuperFight Australia has announced its next action packed Mixed Martial Arts Event To be held at Arena Joondalup, Friday 10th July 2009
With fighters gathering together from Japan, South Africa, Brazil and Australia to showcase their tremendous skills and deliver over two hours of non-stop Mixed Martial Arts Entertainment that will not disappoint.
Fighting under full A-Class rules will see BJJ Blackbelt and fan favourite Gustavo Falciroli taking on his toughest opponent yet in Dream FeatherWeight contender and dynamic striker ‘Wicky’ Akiyo in the main event.
Brazilian born Gustavo Falciroli with only one loss to his name and an incredible ground game is coming off a huge KO win over crafty shooto veteran Masahiro ‘The Jackal” Oishi under Qld’s Rize promotion.  Gustavo hopes to keep his winning momentum going while lately preferring to finish his opponents with his shotgun right hand.
‘Wicky’ Akiyo at only 26 years old brings a wealth of experience to the fight along with his unorthodox fighting style. Having fought in top Japanese promotions he is yet to be submitted or KO’ed in over 15 professional fights. ‘Wicky’ will look to upset the Brazilian badboy with his top striking and ground defense.

Also fighting is Qld based Coby Jones training out of 5 Rings Dojo who will face southwest MMA fighter and big wave surfer Sean Spooner in what will be a cracker at middleweight.
Perth’s own crazy hat wearing Wes “The Decapitater” Capper will square off against Boochu Thai boxer Ryan Mitchell trained by the famous JWP.
Undefeated pro boxing sensation Erin McGowan will take on Queenslander Eileen Forrest who with over 15 pro fights and has promised to break Erin’s winning streak. Both girls know that a win would place them at the top of Australia’s rankings.

Plus many other undercard MMA fights, For Tickets please contact Arena Joondalup or Mach 1 Fitness on 94431227

um, eilleen forrest has not had more than 15 pro fights.  in fact, she has had no pro fights.  she has 13 amateur muay thai fights, 1 non-sanctioned boxing fight (for 1 loss) and no MMA fights.

I take it the girl fight is boxing?

IMA’s Silvester Lidicky will be fighting on the card. Mick Mortimer was to fight Alex Shevstov but Alex pulled out unfortunately. Hopefully a replacement can be found. Looks like a good event.

First post here so please be gentle smile

I’m headed to the 10 July event, my first MMA live fight in Perth.  Can’t wait as I haven’t seen live MMA since I’ve arrived in Australia.

Anyway, was wondering if any members who have already been to previous events held at Arena Joondalup could advise if an idea that I have is feasible, or even a good idea…

In the local events back in Canada I used to bring out the PS2 and invite fellow spectators to play UFC: Throwdown and Pride FC before the start of events.  In the beginning it wasn’t much other than people wanting to play, but eventually sponsors donated prizes and side tournaments started to pop up with (no joke) the final having been displayed as an undercard fight.

With UFC: Undisputed now out I am willing to start something off if there would be an interest.  But before I speak to the event promoter (would this be Mach 1 Fitness?) I wanted to see if people in the forum would be even remotely interested in this.  I wouldn’t want to have to lug my Xbox 360, projector and screen, portable speakers, cables to find that no one would want to play…

Sorry for the lengthy post but your thoughts??

Pretty cool idea.. Just wonder about the commercial issues (ie, using an xbox/ps3 in a commercial environment) dunno if Microsoft or Sony would want in on it… Mind you… it could be a damn crafty way of drawing in a VERY mainstream sponsor wink

Seems like Mach 1 is not responding to my requests to set up shop at the event to get UFC Undisputed up and running for 10 July :(  And I don’t have a clue on how to get a hold of the promoters…guess that I may have to figure out who I need to talk to at the event to see if I can get something going for the next fight night.

Anyway, anyone interested in me Tweeting this event?  If so (and if I can get decent Internet access off my phone at Arena Joondalup) I will set up an account for the event and tweet away.  Hopefully I will be able to get a decent seat so I can tweet pics along with the action.

Seeing that the Arena is an hour away, it isn’t very practical for me to test this out there beforehand, but I may just decide to have an extended lunch break some day during the week with my boss on vacation this week smile

Post your interest and suggestions if any…

No problem uncle_fu

I will experiment with Twitter to see if it works and post the results in this forum as soon as I can.

With regards to Twitter, do you want me to tweet my results to your current infinitemma Twitter account or do you want me to Tweet to mine and refernce the URL on the forum?

Do you want me to keep the results in this thread or start a new one?

Thanks Cade.

Wicky vs Gustavo is a great fight. Wicky was a contestant in the dream tournament this year although he lost. Its a great step up for Gustavo.

Watch out for Silvester. He impressed me a lot with his fight on CFC8.
