One of the founding instructors of Idokan Australia and Bushido Instructors Association is "fighting for her life" against cancer.  Sensei Wendy Carroll is a well respected instructor in the martial art community.

Those that meet Wendy are always impressed with her enthusiasm for life.  Two years ago Wendy was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer with a 6cm tumour.  Wendy was told by her doctors that she should "put her affairs in order".  Refusing to be beaten Wendy had a mastectomy and underwent aggressive chemotherapy and radiotherapy.  To her doctors surprise she survived the ordeal.  Not only that but she reopened  her dojo in Warrandyte and went to an intensive two week Jujutsu seminar in Kyoto, Japan where she was examined for her 4th Dan Jujutsu by the Honbu members of the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai.

ICNZ is set to move venue for there 12th show, this event will be held at the North Shore event centre and as always will feature a good mix of B, A and Pro class bouts. The new venue brings the biggest MMA card seen in New Zealand to date with 21 fights booked for this show, with fighters coming from all over New Zealand. 

The main event will see ICNZ title holder Daniel Digby take on a yet to be named opponent from Australia. The other pro fights will see Luke Jumeau from IMA take on Aaron Walton from Strikeforce in Canterbury and also a Womans title fight between Kate Aroa from JR McGyver/Grolin Gracie taking on Deney Hayward from Shuriken. Gareth Burke from TCMA will return to ICNZ to take on Forrest Goodwin from Strikeforce Canterbury and Dominic Bond from Faith MMA returns to take on Richie Cooper from Ground Control.

To a packed and excited audience Brace For War 5 showcased some great action at the Broncos Leagues Club in Brisbane. The main event was a show of skill and heart by both Jon Leven and Brandon Bell with Brandon Bell taking Jons back early in Round 1, Jon showed class by getting though the round. Brandon’s ground game couldn’t be held off though as he took the win and Jon’s arm with it. Brace For War had everything you want in an MMA Show, Great Standup, quick submissions, huge takedowns and a crowd who just loved their fighters.

Prophecy Promotions held its first MMA show in QLD in June called Fate Mixed Martial Arts, here is a small highlight clip they have produced from the event.

Dave Weston and Nate Thomson fought on the Rize 6 card several weeks ago, here is the the video for this fight which has been put up on youtube for everyone to see

Ashley Powell, Jeremy Wharerau and Joey Luciano Hooke from Kimekai MMA in Melbourne represented Australia with teams from Poland and Ireland fighting team USA in Chicago in Amateur MMA. All the fights were 3 x 3 minute rounds with no elbows. Ashley Powell defeated his opponent Anthony Goodwin via unanimous decision, Joey Luciano lost his fight with Alex White via rear naked choke and Jeremy Wharerau won his fight with Shawn Jackson via Rear Naked Choke.

MMAJunkie.com have reported that Hector Lombard continued his winning streak on Bellator Fighting Championship winning his fight over Hebert Goodman in just 38 seconds via KO.

Advertised as a judoka, it may be time to revisit stylistic descriptions of Bellator's middleweight champion. Lombard needed just 38 seconds to dispatch of NFL veteran Herbert "Whisper" Goodman in a non-title affair.

Goodman did his best to maintain distance early on, but Lombard closed in and launched a right hand that buckled his opponent's knees. Goodman tried to retreat under a flurry of shots from the champ, but another right hand silenced "Whisper." Four more shots landed before the referee could pull "Shango" off his foe, but the damage had already been done.

Lombard will next face season-two tourney winner Alexander Shlemenko with the title on the line, but the victorious fighter didn't limit his options. Recognizing that one of the world's top heavyweight free agents was cageside, Lombard called him out.

"I don't care how much weight you are," Lombard said. "Josh Barnett, come over."

With the win, Lombard (26-2 MMA, 5-0 BFC) now has a 19-fight unbeaten streak and five knockout wins under the Bellator banner. Goodman (16-9 MMA, 0-1 BFC) loses in his Bellator debut.

Supremacy 6 will feature on Sky Sports new MMA time slot and is scheduled for four 30 minute episodes over 4 weeks coming up in October and November.

Cage Fighting Championship 14 will air tonight on Fox Sports 3 in Australia at 10:30pm, the show featured fighters from the Australia, USA and New Zealand. The main event for this card was between Jai Bradney from 5 Rings on the Gold Coast taking on Ian Schaffa, also on the card was Big Jim Yorke fighting Brandon Cash Money.
