Top night of fights last night, with a bit of everything.
UnderCard highlights were the brilliant war between the young fellas (who thanks to the generosity of the crowd walked away with more money each then most people here will earn this week ), Ben Peasley getting up over Simon Bandarian in a 3 rd war that had the crowd in full voice the whole time as they boys talked it up then back it up in the ring, yet showed all the respect in the world after the fight was done. Simon showed some super fast kicksbut ultimately Ben scored more consistently over the 3 rds, especially with his hands.
Jason Harris did very well to consistently avoid the submission attempts and improve position on the ground in rd 1 against Fabio, in particular a tight armbar. Harris then found his range in Rd2 and scored some nice leg and body kicks, and his sprawl run down Fabio’s gas tank allowing him to keep the fight where he wanted it. In the end Harris got the nod for a decision.
No doubt though the Main Event delivered the most spectacular finish, With Stephen Ng making his MMA debut against Nelson Stewart. Nelsons grappling experience helped him control most of rd 1, where he also held his own against NG on the feet. Stephen found his range though in RD 2 and got his sprawl working, and ended up knocking down Nelson with a huge punch, and following up with another just as big to the downed opponent before the Ref could halt the fight.
Nelson did great up to that point, But Ng looks like with some further MMA specific training to compliment his hands he could be a force at 70 kg in the next few years.
Congrats to Roy and the rest of the guys who worked on the show for a great night of fights and a full house. Looking forward to the next one.
